Welcome to Pine Straw of Central Florida

PINE STRAW (Needles) are a very eco friendly source of landscaping mulch. Its a renewable product because of the naturally falling needles. The pine trees are not cut down or destroyed when harvesting the needles. The huge pine forests are raked regularly and baled into nice tight bales so you get your moneys worth. We generally have around 2000 bales in stock and get fresh loads weekly.

Pine Straw Benefits

  • Adheres well to slopes. The interlocking needles hold together so they don't float away in heavy rains and helps with erosion control.
  • It is bug and termite resistant and is pet and user friendly.
  • Its very light weight and easy to apply. Withstands traffic and weather conditions.
  • Helps the soil retain moisture.
  • High in nitrogen for the acid loving plants.
  • Adds organic materials and nutrients to the soil.
  • Allows for better ventilation and water infiltration.
  • Insulates the soil and helps maintain a uniform temperature.

With pine straw you get nearly twice as much ground coverage as traditional pine bark and cypress mulches. Each bale measures 27" long by 13" by 14" and weigh about 20 pounds each. One bale covers 25 square feet if you put it down 3" to 4" thick, that is a (5' X 5') area. Or if you are just topping it off you can get by with about 2" thick or 50 square feet, that is a (5' X 10') area.
